Fast Travel Games’ Apex Construct became one of VRFocus favourite bow shooters when it arrived for PlayStation VR and then Oculus Rift and HTC Vive in 2018. With excitement building for the release of Oculus Quest the studio confirmed it was working on support last month. Today, further details have been released including several new screenshots.
The studio confirms that all content featured in the current version would make it through to the standalone port, from the single-player campaign with its various gameplay improvements and bug fixes, to the competitive game mode ‘Cygnia Cup Challenge’ with its online global leaderboards.
As a bonus for Oculus Rift owners, Apex Construct will also feature cross-buy support with Oculus Quest. So if you own the videogame on Rift then you own it on Quest as well – if you buy one.
“We are extremely proud of how our game is coming together on Oculus Quest. We’ve spent a lot of effort making sure Quest players get the full Apex Construct gameplay experience. Both from a visual as well as a technical perspective, we believe Apex Construct will be one of the most impressive titles at launch,” says Chief Technical Officer Kristoffer Benjaminsson. “We have also spent the last year or so gathering feedback from players and made numerous updates to the game; Improving how you move around, removing bugs, fine-tuning elements of the combat mechanics and much more. All of these updates are included the Oculus Quest version from the start. We really can’t wait to see players enjoying this highly polished version of Apex Construct!”
The experience is set in a surreal, almost alien world, where players find themselves trapped in a war between two AI’s. VRFocus’ five-star review of the title said: “Apex Construct is the standard by which future VR titles will be judged, and an indicator that VR has stepped up its game.”
Apex Construct is available today for PlayStation VR, HTC Vive, Oculus Experience and Windows Mixed Reality, coming to Oculus Quest in Spring 2019. A demo version can be found on each headsets respective stores. For further updates, keep reading VRFocus.
