Vader Immortal Will Bring ‘Lightsaber Battle’ To The Oculus Quest

ILMxLAB teases lightsaber game mechanics in their upcoming Star Wars VR series.

With this year’s official Star Wars Celebration set to kick off next week in Chicago, the rumor of possible announcements regarding both Star Wars Episode IX and The Mandalorian is in full swing as fans prepare for any new updates surrounding the highly-anticipated film and mysterious new series.

Alongside these major announcements, ILMxLAB and Oculus will also be present, providing new information about their upcoming interactive VR series for the Oculus Quest, Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series.

On Friday, April 12th, ILMxLAB will host an in-depth panel dedicated entirely to Vader Immortal–moderated by Amy Ratcliffe (Star Wars: Women of the Galaxy)–featuring writer and executive producer David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy), director Ben Snow, narrative designer Mohen Leo, and Lucasfilm Story Group creative executive Matt Martin. The group will dive deeper into the creative process of the first installment, as well as the series relation to current Star Wars canon.

Also present on the panel will be Lucasfilm alumn Colum Slevin, who will explain how the project was enhanced by Oculus Quest technology, as well as go deeper into the specifics of ‘lightsaber battle’ on the standalone headset. Previously, little to no information was provided in regards to Vader Immortal’s actual gameplay mechanics or plot; this information is the first confirmation we’ve received of lightsaber-inspired gameplay.
